“Beware my Power!” DC celebrates 50 Years of John Stewart with a Brand New Hardcover Collection


In a brand new press release from DC Comics, it was announced that in honor of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the first Black Superhero in DC Comics; Green Lantern: John Stewart will be getting a brand new Commemorative Hardcover Collection, also includes Essays commemorating John Stewart’s Heritage and Contribution to the DC Universe! DC also shared a beautiful image drawn by DC’s Publisher and Chief Creative Officer, Jim Lee and Artist Scott Williams.

It is scheduled to be released on June 22nd, 2021, Green Lantern: John Stewart – A Celebration of 50 Years consists of a 368-page collection, the list below is what the stories consist of, according to Newsarama’s Chris Arrant.

  • Green Lantern Vol. 2 #87 ‘Beware my Power!’ by Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams
  • Green Lantern Vol. 2 #182 ‘It’s a Dirty Job, But…!’ by Len Wein and Dave Gibbons
  • Green Lantern Vol. 2 #185 ‘In Blackest Day’ by Wein and Gibbons
  • Green Lantern Vol. 3 #74 ‘Stand’ by Ron Marz and Darryl Banks
  • Green Lantern Vol. 3 #156 ‘Walking Tall’ by Judd Winick and Dale Eaglesham
  • Green Lantern Vol. 4 #49 ‘Semper Fi’ by Geoff Johns, Ed Benes, and Marcos Marz
  • Justice League Vol. 4 #40 ‘Invasion of the Supermen, Part 1: Impact’ by Robert Venditti and Doug Mahnke
  • Justice League of America #110 ‘The Man Who Murdered Santa Claus’ by Wein and Dick Dillin

As for the essays, it will include John Stewart’s co-creator Neal Adams, acclaimed screenwriters John Ridley and Geoff Johns, and the voice of John Stewart from the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated TV shows, actor Phil LaMarr.
